Sundari Voyages is a newly built wooden phinisi designed for both diving and leisure-focused liveaboard trips within Komodo National Park. Constructed in the renowned boatbuilding village of Bira, Bulukumba, the vessel’s hull was completed in 2024 and is scheduled to begin operations in 2025. Measuring 34 metres in length and 6.5 metres in width, Sundari reflects a blend of traditional Indonesian craftsmanship and modern onboard comfort.

Her name, Sundari, meaning “Beautiful” in Sanskrit, reflects the vessel’s design philosophy, where attention to detail and functional layout shape daily life at sea. The yacht is intended for small-group experiences, balancing underwater exploration with relaxed time on deck while cruising through Komodo’s varied landscapes.

Boat Interior

Social spaces on board are centred on the main deck, where an indoor dining room with an open kitchen provides a communal setting for meals throughout the day. Adjacent outdoor areas allow guests to enjoy sea breezes and open views while underway or at anchor. A sundeck and outdoor lounge offer additional space for rest between activities, particularly during surface intervals and evenings.

Electricity runs on a 220-volt system and is available daily from 06:00 to 22:00, after which generators are shut down to allow for quiet overnight conditions. Charging stations for cameras and laptops are located in both the cabins and the indoor dining area.

Cabins

Sundari accommodates guests in eight spacious cabins, evenly split between the main deck and the upper deck. All cabins are air-conditioned and feature ensuite bathrooms with warm-water showers, along with generous storage space.

Deluxe Cabins

Located on the main deck, are designed for families or small groups. Each includes a double bed, an additional extra bed, a private balcony, and direct access to the social areas.

Signature Ocean Cabins

Arranged for couples or solo travellers. These cabins feature double beds, ensuite bathrooms, and the option of double or single occupancy at a set rate.

Master Cabin

Locatedalso on the upper deck, includes the same core amenities as other cabins, with the addition of a television connected to Starlink Wi-Fi and an outdoor bathtub.

Dive Deck

Diving operations are supported by a dedicated dive deck located at the bow of the vessel, with relocation from the stern scheduled for completion in May 2026. The dive deck includes a camera table, freshwater rinsing tanks for equipment, and hot freshwater showers. Equipment storage remains on the stern platform.

Dives are conducted using a 7-metre fiberglass dinghy equipped with individual seating, tank holders, and twin 40-horsepower engines. Nitrox is included, with both 12-litre and 15-litre aluminium DIN/INT tanks available. Between three and four dives are offered per day, including night dives when conditions allow.

Safety

Sundari carries essential safety equipment, including life rafts, radar, a satellite phone, emergency oxygen, an extensive first aid kit, and fire alarm systems. The onboard crew is trained in first aid, supporting both diving and general onboard safety procedures.

Itineraries

Sundari operates itineraries in Komodo National.

In Komodo, trips run for 12 days and begin and end in Labuan Bajo, Flores. Diving conditions in Indonesia vary between the north, central, and southern regions of the park, with currents shaping encounters across canyons, underwater mounds, sloping reefs, and walls. Marine life commonly includes manta rays, reef sharks, turtles, schooling fish, octopus, frogfish, and nudibranchs. Night dives are offered, and visibility typically ranges from 15 to 30 metres, with water temperatures between 24°C and 29°C.

When to Go

Komodo trips are offered primarily from March to November, during the dry season, when surface conditions are calmer and visibility is generally stable. Raja Ampat itineraries operate best between October and May, when sea conditions and water temperatures are consistent across the region.
