Carpe Vita is a 38-metre Maldives liveaboard accommodating up to 20 guests on diving and surfing journeys across the archipelago. The vessel combines comfortable onboard living with a varied itinerary programme that ranges from classic central routes to more remote expeditions.

Boat Interior

The boat's inviting social spaces offer plenty of room to unwind between activities. An air-conditioned indoor lounge hosts dive briefings and relaxed gatherings, while the adjoining dining area and bar provide a comfortable setting for meals and conversation. Open-air communal areas invite guests to enjoy the sea breeze, and the sun deck offers loungers for soaking up the Maldivian sunshine.

Meals feature a combination of international and Maldivian cuisine served buffet-style. Tea, coffee, drinking water, juices, and soft drinks are available throughout the trip, while beer, wine, spirits, and other alcoholic beverages can be purchased separately.

Cabin Types

Suite

The two Suites feature individually controlled air conditioning, private en-suite bathrooms, safety deposit boxes, TV screens connected to the central media system, hair dryers, and towel service.

Junior Suite

The two Junior Suites include individually controlled air conditioning, private en-suite bathrooms, safety deposit boxes, TV screens connected to the central media system, hair dryers, and towel service.

Standard Cabin

The six Standard Cabins offer individually controlled air conditioning, private en-suite bathrooms, safety deposit boxes, TV screens connected to the central media system, hair dryers, and towel service.

Dive Deck

Diving is conducted from a separate diving dhoni, keeping the main vessel free for relaxation. The dhoni provides ample storage space for equipment and carries rental gear for guests who prefer not to travel on their own. Aluminium tanks in 11.5-litre and 13.5-litre sizes are available with DIN and INT fittings, and Nitrox is offered for certified divers.

Two compressors support daily diving operations, and equipment rentals can be arranged in advance.

Safety and Navigation

Professional local English-speaking dive guides accompany guests throughout each itinerary, with a minimum of three guides operating from the dhoni. Routes and schedules may be adjusted according to local conditions and operational requirements.

The vessel is equipped with radar, GPS, echo sounder, VHF radio, life rafts, life jackets, emergency oxygen, first aid equipment, fire-fighting equipment, and satellite communication systems.

Itineraries

The itinerary selection spans classic central routes, seasonal manta-focused departures, northern expeditions, southern shark routes, private dive charters, and surf charters. Best of Maldives covers North Malé, Rasdhoo, North Ari, South Ari, Vaavu, and South Malé, while Best of Ari focuses on North Malé, Rasdhoo, North Ari, South Ari, and South Malé. Both routes operate year-round and require Advanced Open Water certification with a minimum of 35 logged dives.

Reef, Rays & Hanifaru Bay explores North Malé, Baa, and Raa, with one regulated snorkelling entry to Hanifaru Bay included when conditions allow. This route is suitable for non-divers, snorkellers, and Open Water divers with at least 15 logged dives. Manta Madness adds Baa and Raa to a wider central Maldives route and requires Advanced Open Water certification with a minimum of 35 logged dives.

Deep North itineraries explore northern atolls such as Baa, Raa, Haa Dhaalu, Haa Alifu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Lhaviyani, and North Malé. These trips require Advanced Open Water certification, Nitrox, and at least 50 logged dives. Deep South and Southern Sharks routes focus on Huvadhoo, Fuvahmulah, Addu, and other southern atolls, with Advanced Open Water certification, Nitrox, at least 100 logged dives, and strong swimming ability recommended.

Private dive charters allow groups to choose from existing routes or build a customised itinerary, while surf charters focus on surfing, snorkelling, fishing, diving courses, and beach barbecues. Dive numbers vary by route, with up to 17 or 18 dives on many 7-night trips, up to 26 or 27 dives on many 10-night trips, and higher dive counts on longer northern or southern expeditions.

When to Go

Carpe Vita operates year-round, with itinerary timing shaped by route and season. Best of Maldives and Best of Ari run throughout the year, with northeast season departures from January to April and southwest season departures from May to December.

Seasonal routes follow more specific windows. Reef, Rays & Hanifaru Bay is scheduled from July to September, while Manta Madness operates from May to October. Deep North trips are scheduled in September, October, and March, while Deep South and Southern Sharks itineraries operate from January to April. The posted Maldives weather reference gives an air temperature of 28°C and water temperature of 28°C

Frequently Asked Questions About Carpe Vita

Are there any additional fees, such as park fees or service charges, for the Carpe Vita trips?

Yes, several additional charges may apply. These include domestic flights, green tax, Wi-Fi access, park entrance fees for areas like Hanifaru Bay, dive insurance (mandatory), travel insurance (recommended), fuel surcharges when applicable, alcoholic and soft beverages, and dive courses. Equipment not specifically listed in the inclusions is also excluded

What level of diving experience is recommended for joining a Carpe Vita trip?

For most standard itineraries aboard the Carpe Vita liveaboard, divers are expected to hold an Advanced Open Water Diver certification. If you only have an Open Water certification, you may complete the Advanced course during the trip. Some routes, especially those during the Southwest Monsoon or visiting atolls with stronger currents, may require Nitrox certification and a minimum of 100 logged dives. The MV Carpe Vita Maldives is best suited for divers with at least moderate experience

Can non-divers join the Carpe Vita liveaboard, and are there discounts for them?

Yes, non-divers are welcome on board MV Carpe Vita. Maldives diving suits for snorkelling. While diving is the focus, snorkelers can enjoy the trip too. A small speedboat (dinghy) is available for snorkel excursions while divers are underwater. Tailored activities may be arranged for private charters

What are the check-in and check-out times for the Carpe Vita cruises?

Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out is at 08:00. Divers must present valid certification and a completed waiver form before starting any dives. Carpe Vita Maldives representatives will assist with transfers and domestic connections where necessary

What types of meals are served on board, and can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Meals follow a buffet-style format featuring international and local dishes, with traditional Maldivian spices. The menu includes the usual fare, such as seafood, vegetables, and dishes like French toast. Complimentary tea, coffee, and drinking water are provided. Freshly made juices, soft drinks, additional beer, and spirits are available for purchase. Dietary preferences, such as vegetarian options or food allergies, can be accommodated if advised in advance. Specialty products like gluten-free or soya items may not always be available. Birthday cakes can be arranged for an extra fee

Are airport transfers included when booking a trip on the Carpe Vita?

Yes, transfers from Malé International Airport to MV Carpe Vita are included and scheduled at 14:00. Guests will be greeted by a Carpe Vita team member wearing a branded shirt and holding a sign. For trips requiring a domestic flight, assistance with check-in and further transfer to the vessel is provided

Love Maldives
It’s a very spacious boat. Some areas are shabby and need some work done, but it’s comfortable. The food was excellent. The diving was excellent. The crew were helpful and friendly and worked super hard. The guides could have been more involved with their groups and more animated/fun with us. You felt like they were doing their job, they did it well, but just felt a little apart.

Great week on the Carpe Vita
Great week diving on the Carpe Vita. The crew were very friendly and the dive guides very knowledgeable and safe. The food was excellent. The boat is very comfortable and the air condition cabin I had was spacious and cleaned every day. The diving and dive sites were varies and certainly ticked my box for sharks and Mantas. I wouldn't hesitate to rebook.
