Disappointing experience - not the Best of the Maldives Verified review

Cabin - old and a bit of a mouldy smell. Our bathroom has an issue with the drain and smelt very strongly of rotten eggs on some days. It was also close to the eating area so could be noisy. It shouldn’t be called a suite and the photos do not reflect the room. It was cleaned regularly and well. General - there was nothing to do outside of diving and the common areas were not so nice to relax in - we could have been on a boat anywhere at all. We could see all the other liveaboards - which looked like they had a bit more ambience especially in the evenings. Diving - it was good not amazing - not sure why this is a bucket list destination! Every dive site has many many liveaboards - sometimes up to 18 - which suggests a lack of sites to visit. These sites are being dived to death unfortunately. The itinerary also did not match what was listed - they headed for where the visibility was worse as there was more chance of pelagic - but it was just poor visibility. The instructors seemed a little bored of the sites and had no enthusiasm at all - plus didn’t stick to the dive plan which was a bit chaotic. On one we were dumped for 15 minutes at a feeding station with nothing to look at while they went off doing something else (showing seahorses to the other dive guides I think) despite the entire group requesting to be located at a different location pre dive. Staff were nice and the food was good. There were 7 Russians non divers on the boat for an inexplicable reason who had nothing to do and made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Ultimately - it’s just mass commercial diving - and I wouldn’t do it again.

Spacious Boat for Fun Diving in MaldivesVerified review

The Carpe Novo boat was very spacious with several areas to hang out and quite large rooms and bathrooms. The cleaning service was great - everything was cleaned each morning. The roof lounge area was very fun to hang out on and enjoy the cruise or sunset. Sometimes they forgot to take the futons back out though and they were still wrapped up. The diving was nice-- we didn't always luck out with the right currents but they adapted the route based on how conditions were. Each of the guides had their strengths: one guide was super friendly and enthusiastic and helpful, others are artists and draw amazing sketches of the dive sites, and others are very knowledgeable of the dive sites. We also really enjoyed being able to leave our gear on the smaller dive boat, and it was also quite spacious! The chef and bartender were amazing and there was so much variety in the food with great service. The curries were excellent and the salads were always varied and interesting.
