Pearl of Papua Liveaboard, Indonesia
Built in 2010, Pearl of Papua is a 30-metre wooden Phinisi extensively renovated in 2021, with the latest phase completed in January 2026. Seven air-conditioned cabins accommodate up to 15 guests on diving cruises in Raja Ampat and Triton Bay.
Boat Interior
The indoor lounge and restaurant were replaced and upgraded during the renovation completed in January 2026. A newly constructed staircase now connects the lower-deck cabins directly with these spaces, providing indoor access in all weather. Outdoor decks and a sun deck offer additional areas for spending time between dives.
Full meals and snacks are provided onboard, along with drinking water, tea and coffee. Dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are also available onboard.
Cabin Types
All seven cabins have air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Bathroom towels, dive towels and basic toiletries are also provided.

Two Bauer Mariner 200 compressors supply 12-litre tanks compatible with DIN and Yoke valves. Three 15-litre tanks are available for rent, while Nitrox is offered to certified divers at an additional charge. Scubapro and Aqualung equipment can be arranged in advance, with dive computers, torches and private guides also available for an additional fee.
Safety and Navigation
Navigation equipment includes Furuno radar, a Koden KGP-91 GPS, a depth sounder, VHF and SSB radios, and a satellite telephone. Emergency equipment includes an EPIRB, three life rafts, more than 40 life jackets, fire extinguishers, first-aid supplies and onboard oxygen.
A check dive is conducted at the beginning of each cruise to assess divers’ comfort and experience and assist with buddy pairing.
Non-diving Activities
Selected itineraries combine diving with shore-based activities. These may include a viewpoint hike on Mount Pindito in Wayag, beach picnics, snorkelling, a visit to Arborek village and a barbecue on an uninhabited island.
Itineraries
Seven- and eight-night Raja Ampat North itineraries explore the Dampier Strait, Fam, Penemu, Wayag, Waigeo and Arborek. Dive environments range from coral gardens and current-swept passages to macro sites and fish-rich reefs, with opportunities to encounter sharks, manta rays and bumphead parrotfish.
The eight-night South to Central itinerary combines Misool with Penemu, Arborek and the Dampier Strait. Misool offers walls, ravines and manta cleaning stations such as Magic Mountain, while sites farther north add drift diving, coral gardens and large schools of fish. Ten-night Southern and Northern itineraries extend the route from Misool through Fam, Penemu and Wayag to Arborek and the Dampier Strait, with opportunities to see wobbegong sharks and macro life.
Longer transition cruises connect Raja Ampat and Triton Bay over 10 or 12 nights. Diving takes place around slopes, walls and pinnacles, with opportunities for macro photography and encounters with wobbegong sharks.
When to Go
The main Raja Ampat season runs from September to May, when sailing conditions are generally calmer. Cruises also operate from June through August, with northern Raja Ampat offering more sheltered conditions during this period
Photography Facilities
The dive deck has a dedicated camera table for setting up underwater photography equipment. Battery-charging stations provide both 110V and 220V power.

Program
Day 1:
Meet & greet at the airport. Group transfer to the port. Onboarding, meeting the crew & briefing.
Day 2-8:
Dampier Straits. Welcome to Dampier Straits areas. Check dive at Mioskon. Monitoring your buoyancy skill and make yourself comfortable with water and your gear. For some of you who have not to dive for a long time, check dive is always a good way to refresh your skill. Cape Kri is a great start of the day with most fish and coral species accounted for a single dive site. Truly dive sites like Cape Kri, of Dr. Allen’s 30-year lifetime record fish, count. Cape Kri has probably the largest concentration of big fish of any sites in northern Raja Ampat. Mioskon, Cape Kri, and Mike’s point are among the sites for day two.
Wayag. Arriving in the morning in Wayag Island – one of “must see” itinerary for Raja Ampat cruise. Parking the boat in the front of Mount Pindito to make the famous “hike”. Bring your camera, your hat, and your walking shoes. You will about to view the breathtaking scenery over the island group here. After taking a load of pictures from above we will have a nice and easy picnic on the beach, having a relaxed morning, swimming and snorkeling. Take our tender boat to marvel the spectacular hidden bay and little lagoon. We will make time to have a couple of dives around the northern part of Raja Ampat Aljui Bay or Gam.
Sel Pele Bay. Sel Pele is a very large bay located on the western side of Waigeo Island and is renowned as the best place in Raja Ampat for critter hunting. The bay has a large mouth with a small island in the center. Sometimes between dives tour and visit the pearl farms can be made. Dinding Selatan; Kebung Kerang; and Pearl farm Pier (The Jetty) are among the selection for day and night dives in the area.
Fam and Penemu Island. Spread over nearly 700 square kilometers of the ocean just above the midway point on Raja Ampat’s north-south axis, Pam and Penemu vivid corals thrive while withstanding, indeed reveling in, some of Dampier’s strongest current. A fun drifting away with current at Melissa Garden, Barracuda, and Angelina Passage.
Dampier Straits. These times we dive Chicken Reef, Sardine, Blue Magic. The dive spot that offers an unforgettable diving experience where you could spot huge schools of a fish parade by barracuda and pale or blue tail surgeonfish patrol the reef top, while below schools of trevally and fusiliers whiz past and encircle you. Manta is usually seen. Sheer numbers of fish here. Of course, there are great schools of trevallies and tuna in numbers that practically block out the light. But you can also be enthralled by vast numbers of bump headed parrotfish as they charge around and devour the coral.
Arborek. On the way back to Sorong we will stop by at the famous Arborek, the dive spot selection in this area are abundant. Manta Sandy and Manta Ridge will be among our dive spot selection where you can spot a group of Mantas circling and swimming. For safety precautions, we will have only two shallow dives in our last dives day.

Days 2-5:
Misool is one of the most fascinating areas of Raja Ampat. It contains some of the most amazing underwater seascapes imaginable – deep ravines and canyons give way to unsurpassed coral coverage and unrivaled color. Don’t be surprised if you encounter Gorgonian Sea Fans exceeding 3 meters in diameter! That said, while the reefs are truly breathtaking down in Misool, remember to check the blue every now and again as it is quite common to encounter oceanic manta rays, reaching up to seven meters in length, on many dives. Brace yourself, the diving is about to get incredible.
One of the dives, Magic Mountain, is a fairly reliable cleaning station for oceanic manta rays. Because of this we will dive the site twice in order to afford you the best opportunity to encounter these gentle giants.

After having fun drifting with the current at My Reef and Melissa Garden, you will climb Penemu. It is a mere 318 wooden steps to the breathtaking view of Raja Ampat’s limestone karsts.
From here Pearl of Papua will head towards Arborek where you will complete your final dive of the day and have the opportunity to explore an authentic village and interact with locals.

The Dampier Straits contain some of Raja Ampat’s most action-packed dives. There are a number of wonderful sites in the area, many of which are exposed to and best dived when the current is running. Encounters with various sharks, Bumphead Parrotfish, schools of barracuda, Oceanic Triggerfish, and Big-Eyed Trevally are quite common. The sheer number of fish is literally astounding. At times shoals are so thick the sunlight is practically blocked out.
Finally, what better way to end your diving expedition than to have a barbeque on an uninhabited island? The crew will prepare a wonderful meal for you to enjoy as you watch thousands of fruit bats begin their journey to neighboring islands in search of food.
- Dive 1: Blue Magic
- Dive 2: Cape Kri
- Dive 3: Mike’s Point
- Barbeque at the Island
Day 8:
We can’t get enough of Dampier Straits! Today you will dive at Chicken Reef and Sardine Reef, these dive spots offer an unforgettable diving experience where you may spot huge schools of fishes being stalked by barracuda and trevally. And if you’re lucky even a few manta rays!
