All about Gladden Spit dive site
Gladden Spit, off the Placencia region, is famous for seasonal whale shark encounters linked to fish spawning periods. Beyond the whale shark season, it remains a blue-water and reef-edge site with open Caribbean scale.

What to see
Whale sharks may be seen seasonally, along with snappers, jacks, reef fish, rays, and pelagic visitors. Encounters are never guaranteed, but the site is one of Belize’s most important seasonal big-fish areas.
When To Go Diving
The best-known whale shark period is around March to June, often close to full moon spawning events. Water temperatures are usually around 26–29°C, and visibility offshore can be excellent, though conditions vary.
