Laughing Bird Caye, off Placencia, sits within a protected marine park and offers bright southern Belize reef scenery. Its island setting, coral patches, and clear shallows make it appealing for relaxed diving as well as snorkelling.
What to see
Coral heads, sponges, sea fans, reef fish, parrotfish, angelfish, snappers, grunts, rays, nurse sharks, and turtles may be seen. The caye setting also supports shallow reef and seagrass life.
When To Go Diving
December to May is generally best for calmer seas and clearer water, while March to June can also be strong for southern Belize trips. Water is usually around 26–29°C.
