Separate diving dhoni with Nitrox support and dedicated dive operations
Routes ranging from central atolls to Hanifaru Bay, Deep North, and Deep South
Air-conditioned lounge, open-air restaurant and bar, and a sun deck with loungers

Carpe Diem is a 35-metre Maldives motor safari yacht offering diving, surfing, snorkelling, and private charter cruises across the atolls. Accommodating up to 20 guests, the vessel combines dedicated dive facilities with inviting spaces for relaxation between activities.

Boat Interior

The main deck features an air-conditioned lounge and dive briefing area, a dive equipment room, a communal toilet, and an outdoor seating area. On the upper deck, guests can gather in the open-air restaurant and bar, while the sun deck provides additional seating and loungers for enjoying the surrounding views.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are served onboard, accompanied by unlimited drinking water, coffee, and tea. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are available at an additional cost.

Cabin Types

Carpe Diem accommodates up to 20 guests in 10 cabins spread across the lower, main, and upper decks. The accommodation includes six Standard Cabins on the lower deck, two Double Cabins on the main deck, one Deluxe Cabin, and one Suite on the upper deck. Bedding configurations vary by category, with queen beds, double beds, bunk-style layouts, and a king bed in the Suite that can be converted into twin beds.

All cabins feature individually controlled air conditioning, private bathrooms, safety deposit boxes, life jackets, hairdryers, and TV screens connected to a central media system. The vessel operates on 220V electricity with multinational power outlets, and Wi-Fi is available onboard.

Dive Deck

Diving operations are supported by a separate diving dhoni and a small tender. The setup includes two HP compressors, one Nitrox unit, Nitrox and normal air tanks, 11.5-litre and 13.5-litre aluminium DIN/INT tanks, reef hooks, weights, belts, and one SMB per diving couple or buddy team.

Up to three dives are offered daily, excluding the day of arrival and the day before departure. Depending on trip length and weather conditions, one or two night dives may be included, although night dives are not part of Deep South itineraries. Dive equipment rental is available onboard.

Safety and Navigation

Navigation equipment includes GPS and a sounder, while communication systems include satellite, VHF radio, internet, and GSM. Safety provisions include life jackets, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, an emergency alarm, and 10,500 litres of first aid oxygen.

Professional local English-speaking dive guides lead all dives, and dive plans may be adjusted according to weather, currents, visibility, and operational considerations.

Non-diving Activities

Non-divers are welcome onboard, and private charters can be tailored to suit different group interests.

When conditions and local permissions allow, beach BBQs may be arranged during the cruise. Guests can also spend time relaxing in the lounge, outdoor communal areas, open-air restaurant and bar, or on the sun deck between activities.

Itineraries

Carpe Diem operates a range of 5-night, 7-night, 10-night, and longer itineraries across the Maldives. Routes include Best of Maldives, Best of Ari, Reef, Rays & Hanifaru Bay, Manta Madness, Deep North, Deep South, Southern Sharks, dedicated surf departures, and tailor-made dive charters. Depending on the route, cruises explore central atolls, the northern reaches of the archipelago, or the remote southern atolls, with experience requirements varying according to conditions and dive profiles.

Best of Maldives and Best of Ari generally require Advanced Open Water certification and around 35 logged dives. Deep North itineraries require Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certifications with a minimum of 50 logged dives, while Deep South and Southern Sharks departures require Advanced Open Water, Nitrox certification, at least 100 logged dives, and confidence in medium to strong currents.

When to Go

Carpe Diem operates throughout the year, with certain itineraries scheduled around seasonal conditions. Best of Maldives and Best of Ari run year-round, while Reef, Rays & Hanifaru Bay is offered during the South West season from July to September. Manta Madness departures take place from May to October. Deep North itineraries are scheduled in September, October, and March, while Deep South and Southern Sharks departures operate from January to April. Water temperatures in the Maldives are approximately 28°C

Great diving in Maldives
I had a 7 days liveboard on Carpe Diem on Maledives. It was beyond my expectations. After three days of diving I saw almost everything from my bucket lists: hammerhad, many kinds of sharks including: white tips, black tips, grey reef sharks, nurse sharks. I also had a close encounter with manta rays and whale sharks and many many others. The boat was comfortable. So were the cabins all with bathrooms. Food, especially local, was delicious. The staff was attentive and friendly.
