Golden Dolphin III was launched in 2008 as a purpose-built diving vessel. This 37-meter yacht offers year-round dive safaris in the Egypt liveaboard scene and can take on board 20 guests in its 10 en-suite, air-conditioned cabins. The six twin cabins are located on the main deck, while two twin cabins and two double cabins with king-size beds will be found upstairs. Large windows in the double cabins are provided with natural light, thus enhancing comfort during your stay. Each cabin is fitted with an independent en-suite bathroom and mini-bar to make the stay relaxed and enjoyable between dives.

Social areas aboard are designed for comfort and entertainment. The salon is large and covers the entire lower deck, is air-conditioned, and includes a bar and drinks station, a large entertainment area, as well as a dining space. A shaded lounge and a second bar are placed on the sundeck, offering the ideal spot for relaxing after a diving day. The sky deck has loungers and is ideal for guests who love sunbathing while enjoying the panorama along the Egypt liveaboard trip.

This liveaboard is a well-organized diving holiday. The dive deck is spacious, offering individual storage, tables for camera setup, and rinse tanks to take good care of gear and equipment. A large dive platform makes entry and exit from the water effortless. Certified divers can use Nitrox. They include some of the most well-known dive sites in North Egypt, such as SS Thistlegorm, Dunraven, Abu Nuhas, and deep south at St. Johns. For those people who would wish to explore the abundant marine life of the Red Sea more extensively, there are extended two-week dive trips

One of the best liveaboards in the Red Sea - Golden Dolphin 3 - St. Johns - Abu Fandera 24.11-01.12.2022Verified review
This was my first experience aboard the Golden Dolphin 3 boat and I must say it exceeded my expectations even if it was my 8th liveaboard on different boats in the Red Sea. The structure of the boat is different than other boats since the dining room is in the lower deck and the rooms are placed in the middle and top deck, with window views. This is actually very convenient since most of the time is spent on the middle and upper deck. Moving on, the crew and facilities were great. The cook also did a great job preparing various dishes during the diving trip. The two guides Rudi and Bassem alternated with the two groups of divers from one day to the next and kept things interesting. The highlight of the trip was at Fasma Abu Fandera where we saw two whale sharks passing by just after the negative entry from the zodiac. Then at Elphinstone 2 oceanic white tips came really close and gave us a chance to see them better. Towards the end of the trip at Ras Shouna we saw 6 huge green turtles in one dive. Of course we also saw baby white tip sharks, Spanish dancers, eagle rays, dotted stingrays and dolphins between the dives. The weather was excellent for this time of year and the water temperature was between 26-28 degrees celsius. I wholeheartedly recommend this liveaboard on Golden Dolphin 3 and the Golden Dolphin fleet. Last but not least i must mention that the staff of Divebooker was very helpful throughout the whole process and particularly Teresa and Irene made sure all the details were sorted out and any problems solved quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens on the arrival day of a liveaboard trip?
After boarding, guests attend a safety briefing, meet the crew, and fill out paperwork for the check dive. Cabins are assigned, and an orientation serves as a tour to familiarize everyone with the boat. The boat remains moored in port on arrival day and departs early the next morning. The first dive is conducted near the port as a check dive
How is the diving in Egypt?
Diving in Egypt is done all year round, but conditions change a bit with the seasons. The cooler water temperatures of 22°C in February rise to 30°C by June through August. Hammerhead sharks, mantas, and nesting turtles can be spotted during the summer months, while divers enjoy better visibility and milder air temperatures during winter. Whale sharks sometimes appear in the northern Red Sea between May and July. The exposure suit will depend on the season: for winter, a 5-7mm wetsuit is suitable, but during summer, a 3mm shorty or full suit is enough
What makes the Brother Islands-Daedalus-Elphinstone itinerary special?
Brother Islands, situated 60 kilometers from the Egyptian shoreline, is one of the best known diving destinations globally. Little Brother is then faced with walls covered in sponges, anemones, and a bright display of corals that attract reef fish and predators such as hammerheads, thresher sharks, and white-tip reef sharks. Big Brother boasts its lighthouse, and Numidia-a coral-covered cargo ship between 5 and 80 meters, and Aida-a scattered wreck found between 34 and 60 meters. Daedalus Reef is 180 km south of the Brother Islands. Its steep walls and southern plateau are known for hammerhead sharks, reef sharks, and schools of fusiliers. Another legendary reef is Elphinstone, separated into north and south plateaus and walls covered in coral, where oceanic white-tip sharks, hammerheads, and grey reef sharks can be seen
What is special about the North and Straits of Tiran itinerary?
This itinerary combines iconic wreck dives and vibrant coral reefs. The SS Thistlegorm, resting at 32 meters, is a must-see because of its preserved cargo of tanks, trucks, and motorcycles. Abu Nuhas reef features wrecks such as the Giannis D, a Greek cargo ship, and the Dunraven, a vessel which has split into two sections on the seabed. It also includes four coral reefs- Gordon, Thomas, Woodhouse, and Jackson-across the Straits of Tiran, each offering a different diving experience. Gordon Reef has its shark amphitheater; Thomas Reef boasts colorful soft corals and a deep canyon; Woodhouse Reef has excellent coral cover with sandy patches deeper down; while Jackson Reef, with its steep walls and dense coral growth, is a favorite hangout spot of pelagic fish, barracuda, and schooling jacks
What marine life can be seen in the Red Sea, and when?
The biodiversity of the Red Sea includes reef fish, dolphins, turtles, and sharks. Grey reef sharks, threshers, and hammerheads are resident all year, although cooler water during winter attracts some species, such as threshers. Summer months see the plankton blooms that attract mantas and nesting turtles. Whale sharks are more frequently seen from May to July, while grey reef sharks and dolphins may be seen all over the year
Environmental regulations for diving in Egypt
Egypt protects marine ecosystems and enforces strict environmental laws. Hunting, fishing, collection of corals, or shells, and reef walking are not allowed. The use of diving gloves is prohibited; anchoring in protected areas is also not allowed, and feeding fish and birds has been forbidden as well. Maximum depth allowed - 40 meters: penalty is imposed with fines or imprisonment if violated. To protect the environment, please use reef-friendly toiletries and do not flush toilet paper; instead, throw it in the trash cans provided
