When to go to Port Ghalib

The Port Ghalib area has a hot, desert climate, which means that the weather stays hot even in the winter months, with the temperature varying between 22-25C/72-77F. Marsa Alam, the city where Port Ghalib is located, is also famous for having the warmest night temperatures out of all Egyptian cities. The temperature of the Red Sea water averages 22-29C/72-84F throughout the year. All this means that diving conditions in Port Ghalib are good all year round. 

 

What to see

Ornate fish such as butterflyfish, gobies, and wrasses are permanent inhabitants of reef dive zones at this destination, as well as large fish species such as spinner dolphins, whitetip sharks, and guitar sharks. Rare dugongs are often spotted in this area as well.

Scuba diving in Port Ghalib

Port Ghalib is an internationally recognized resort located in the town of Marsa Alam on the southern coast of the Red Sea. Scuba diving and other aquatic activities, such as windsurfing and parasailing, are the main focus of the recreation at this resort. Dive sites here are especially precious jewels due to the exceptional variety of species, bright reefs, and suitability for all levels of divers. The depth of the sites averages 10-22m/33-72ft. While the maximum depth divers face at Port Ghalib is 60m/197ft, most of the dive spots here are deep dives. Picturesque reefs, walls, and lagoons are the typical diving landscapes in this area, where there is lots of reef diving.
