The Thailand Master is a 34-metre traditional Indonesian phinisi sailing yacht offering liveaboard diving holidays in Thailand and Myanmar. Built in 2007, the vessel accommodates up to 18 guests across seven air-conditioned cabins, all featuring private en-suite bathrooms. Its spacious dive deck, two dive tenders and dedicated facilities for underwater photographers make it a practical base for exploring the Andaman Sea. The Thailand Master liveaboard offers a diverse range of itineraries, from shorter escapes to the Similan and Surin Islands to extended expeditions through the remote Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar. With a combination of Thai and Western cuisine, shaded outdoor dining and comfortable social spaces, the Thailand Master Thailand and Myanmar itineraries bring together varied diving experiences and a relaxed onboard atmosphere.

Cabins & Accommodation

The Thailand Master accommodates up to 18 guests in seven cabins, all located on the lower deck. The accommodation comprises three Double/Twin Cabins, two Fixed Twin Cabins and two Quad Cabins. Every cabin has individually controlled air conditioning, a private en-suite bathroom, towels and bedding, providing guests with their own space to relax after a day of diving.

Double/Twin Cabin

The Thailand Master has three Double/Twin Cabins, each designed to accommodate up to two guests. The bow cabin features a fixed double bed with an additional single berth, while the two midship cabins have separate single beds that can be converted into a double configuration. All three cabins feature private en-suite bathrooms and individually controlled air conditioning, making them suitable for couples or dive buddies who prefer flexible sleeping arrangements.

Fixed Twin Cabin

Two Fixed Twin Cabins are available, each accommodating up to two guests in separate single beds. Unlike the convertible midship cabins, these beds cannot be rearranged into a double configuration. Each cabin has a private en-suite bathroom and individually controlled air conditioning, providing a convenient option for friends or dive companions travelling together.

Quad Cabin

Two Quad Cabins accommodate up to four guests each, making them suitable for groups of friends or divers who prefer shared accommodation. Each cabin features four single berths, individually controlled air conditioning and a private en-suite bathroom.

Cabin occupancy on shared quad arrangements is based on demand and may involve guests of mixed genders. This is worth considering when selecting accommodation for solo travellers.

Boat Interior

The Thailand Master combines traditional phinisi character with practical shared spaces designed around life at sea. The main saloon provides an indoor relaxation area where guests can unwind between dives, socialize with fellow travellers or enjoy entertainment on the television.

The dining area is located at the stern on the upper deck, offering an appealing combination of open-air dining and views of the surrounding waters. Its covered and shaded layout allows guests to enjoy their meals outdoors while remaining protected from direct sunlight.

The sundeck provides additional space to relax between diving activities, offering an opportunity to enjoy the tropical surroundings and spend time outdoors.

Diving Facilities

The Thailand Master features a spacious dive deck with dedicated storage space for diving equipment and two tenders that transport divers to the designated dive sites. Two Coltri compressors support the diving operations, while four dive guides are listed among the vessel's onboard facilities.

The standard diving package includes an 11-litre (80 cu ft) cylinder with air fills, weights, a weight belt and a surface marker buoy (SMB). Larger 13-litre cylinders are available for an additional charge. Nitrox is also available for an extra fee, while equipment rental is offered for guests who prefer not to bring their own diving gear.

Rental equipment includes BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins, booties, snorkels, dive computers and underwater torches. Full equipment sets can be arranged, although dive computers and torches are not included in the standard full-set rental. Pre-booking is recommended to ensure the required equipment and sizes are available on board.

The Thailand Master also offers PADI diving courses, including Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx), alongside other speciality courses. Courses are subject to availability and must be arranged in advance to ensure an instructor is available.

The vessel's itineraries typically offer up to four dives per day, depending on the route, weather, local regulations and diving conditions. On some departures, the final dive may be scheduled at sunset or after dark when the location and conditions allow.

Underwater Photography Facilities

The Thailand Master provides dedicated facilities for underwater photographers, including a camera table and charging points for photography equipment. A separate freshwater rinse tank is available for camera equipment, allowing photographers to rinse their housings and accessories independently of general diving gear.

These arrangements provide a practical workspace for preparing, maintaining and recharging photography equipment between dives, making the vessel a convenient option for guests who want to concentrate on underwater photography throughout their liveaboard holiday.

Food & Drinks

Dining aboard the Thailand Master combines Thai cuisine with familiar Western dishes, prepared daily using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The full-board arrangement includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, providing regular meals throughout the diving schedule.

Tea, coffee, fruit juice and soft drinks are included, while alcoholic beverages are available for an additional charge. The selection includes beer and wine.

The covered outdoor dining area at the stern provides a pleasant setting to enjoy freshly prepared meals while taking in the surrounding seascape. Its shaded position also makes it a comfortable place to spend time with fellow divers between excursions.

Onboard Facilities

Wi-Fi internet access is available on board for an additional fee, allowing guests to stay connected during their liveaboard holiday. Laundry service is also available for an additional charge, providing a practical option for those joining longer itineraries.

Itineraries & Destinations

The Thailand Master operates diving itineraries in Thailand and Myanmar, offering several trip durations and different underwater environments to explore. In Thailand, the vessel visits the Similan and Surin Islands, the South Andaman Sea and other well-known diving regions. In Myanmar, it ventures into the remote Mergui Archipelago and surrounding offshore waters.

The available itineraries range from shorter four-night trips to extended ten-night expeditions, allowing divers to choose between exploring Thailand's established dive regions and venturing further into less-visited areas of the Andaman Sea.

Thailand

Southern Thailand – 4 Nights

The Southern Thailand itinerary explores the South Andaman Sea, combining several of the region's recognised diving locations. The route includes Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, two isolated underwater pinnacles, as well as the islands, lagoons and underwater formations around Koh Haa.

Other potential dive sites include Koh Phi Phi, the Bida Islands, Shark Point, King Cruiser Wreck and Koh Doc Mai. Depending on the itinerary duration, season and operating conditions, guests can explore underwater walls, pinnacles, caverns and swim-throughs. The itinerary is primarily operated during May and June, after the Similan Islands diving season has ended.

The four-night trip offers up to four dives per day when conditions and the schedule allow, with approximately 14 dives possible over the itinerary.

Similan & Surin Islands – 4 and 6 Nights

The Similan and Surin Islands itineraries explore some of Thailand's most recognised diving regions in the Andaman Sea. The Similan Islands are characterised by granite formations, underwater boulders, pinnacles and coral reefs, while the more northerly Surin Islands offer additional reef environments and access to the renowned Richelieu Rock.

The four-night itinerary provides a shorter introduction to the region, while the six-night option allows more time to explore the surrounding marine parks and additional dive sites. Depending on the selected itinerary, destinations include the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock.

Divers can explore a variety of underwater environments, from sheltered coral gardens and sloping reefs to deeper pinnacles and current-exposed formations. The six-night itinerary offers up to 19 dives, including the possibility of sunset or night dives. Up to four dives per day are scheduled when conditions and the vessel's location permit.

The itinerary also provides opportunities to go ashore and enjoy the beaches of the Similan Islands, with a visit to a Moken Village in the Surin Islands included as a potential land excursion.

Best of Thailand – 8 and 10 Nights

The Best of Thailand itinerary combines the Similan and Surin Islands with the southern Andaman Sea into one extended liveaboard diving experience. The eight-night route brings together the major diving regions of the Andaman Sea, while the ten-night option offers additional opportunities to explore further south.

The itinerary includes the granite formations of the Similan Islands, the diving areas around Koh Bon and Koh Tachai, the reefs of the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock. Further south, divers can explore Hin Daeng, Hin Muang and the lagoons and underwater formations around Koh Haa.

The ten-night itinerary may also extend to Koh Lipe and neighbouring islands within Tarutao National Marine Park, although this additional section is not guaranteed. The combination of different regions and underwater landscapes makes this an appealing option for divers looking to explore several of Thailand's major dive destinations during one liveaboard holiday.

Myanmar (Burma)

Mergui Archipelago – 7 and 10 Nights

The Thailand Master offers seven- and ten-night expeditions to the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar, one of the more remote liveaboard diving regions in Southeast Asia. Located in the northern Andaman Sea, the archipelago comprises largely uninhabited islands surrounded by extensive reef systems, isolated pinnacles and seamounts.

The seven-night itinerary ventures offshore to explore the Mergui Archipelago and Burma Banks, offering access to remote dive sites and underwater landscapes that see relatively little diving activity. The ten-night option allows more time to explore the region's offshore reefs and secluded underwater formations.

The diving environment can be more demanding than many of Thailand's established sites. Strong currents and reduced visibility can occur, particularly at exposed locations, making these itineraries better suited to experienced divers who are comfortable in challenging conditions.

Both itineraries require Advanced Open Water certification or an equivalent qualification and a minimum of 30 logged dives. Divers should also be comfortable diving in currents, while Nitrox certification is strongly recommended.

The diving schedule allows for up to four dives per day, typically combining three daytime dives with a possible sunset or night dive when conditions permit. On the final full day, guests can usually enjoy two morning dives followed by an afternoon beach visit to Horseshoe Island before the vessel returns to Kawthaung.

Non-diving Activities

Beyond diving, the Thailand Master offers opportunities to experience some of the destinations above the water. On the six-night Similan and Surin Islands itinerary, guests may go ashore to enjoy the beaches of the Similan Islands and visit a Moken Village in the Surin Islands.

Myanmar itineraries include a beach visit to Horseshoe Island on the final full day of the trip, providing a welcome break from the diving schedule and an opportunity to explore the remote island surroundings.

Kayaking is also available on board, subject to availability, offering another way to enjoy time on the water between diving activities.

Love it!
Everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The boat was beautiful and very comfortable, the crew was professional, friendly and always attentive, and the guiding and safety standards were excellent. The food and drinks exceeded expectations, and the overall organization was flawless. It was an unforgettable experience that I would happily do again, and I would highly recommend Thailand Master to anyone looking for a top-quality liveaboard experience.

Liveaboard with amazing planning
At the famous dive sites, they don't try to rush out and choose timeslots where other boats don't dive. Customer safety is always the top priority. The cruise director has 20 years of experience, and the crew is super lovely. Food is varied daily and super tasty!

Good value for money
The Phinisi diving cruise of Similan and Surin islands was enjoyable and reasonably priced. The underwater visibility was over 25m with beautiful hard coral gardens and schooling fishes on many dives. The Thai foods on board were delicious, with friendly service from the crew.
