Thap Lamu (also known as Tap Lamu, Taplamu, Tab Lamu, and Tablamu) is a deep-water levee and home of the Royal Thai Navy’s Third Fleet. The pier is a focal point for tourists and divers. There is also the Navy Marina and some fishing berths where everyone can see the boats moor and off-load what they caught. Thap Lamu Pier is the main drop-off zone for diving and snorkeling trips. The majority of dive trips start from Thap Lamu Harbor, which is about 20 minutes south of Khao Lak. Many dive sites are closed from the end of April to October, because the weather often prohibits diving during this time. Some of these dive sites have ridges and wrecks.
