*Due to the depth and strong currents, this site is only suitable for advanced divers. The Black Rock Island dive site can be reached from the Burmese border town of Kawthaung, and is known for the beauty of its underwater mountain views, the large fish species, and the combination of wall and reef diving. The site is more than 70m/239ft deep, strong currents can occur at this site.

When to go

The best time to go to the Black Rock dive site is during the almost rainless winter, from November to April, when the average sea water temperature is 27C/81F. The time from June to October is extremely rainy due to the southwest monsoon.

What to see

Soft and hard corals, mantis shrimps, big pelagic fishes, red swimmer crabs, manta rays, giant marbeled sting rays, sea snakes, mobula rays.
