Fan Forest Pinnacle in the Mergui Archipelago goes from 5m/16ft below the water’s surface to a depth of more than 30m/98ft. The submerged pinnacle consists almost entirely of limestone and is encircled by big granite boulders. Massive colorful sea fans (some of which are over 3m/10ft in diameter) grow on its walls, which makes this place look much like an underwater mountain covered with a thriving forest. The site is great for photography.

When To Go Diving

The most favorable time to see this underwater forest is November through April, during the almost rain-free tropical winter. The sea temperature in this season averages 27C/81F. During the summertime, this area is famous for the almost constant rainfall.

What to see

Large colorful seafans, sea horses, rainbow runners, cellopods, octopuses, various kinds' rays, white-tip reef sharks, harlequin shrimps
