Unique liveaboard in Seychelles with many “green” features for a light footprint on the seas. Customized tours allow guests to dive and engage in activities that meet their specific capabilities and wishes. Suitable for single berths, group bookings, or full charters. The itineraries are flexible, allowing for repeat dives at “hot spots”. Longer trips for up to 14 days onboard are possible as well as short cruises for groups of 4+ guests. Outer Islands, Aldabra, and expeditions outside Seychelles may also be booked for groups of 4-6, with availability and pricing on request.
Boat interior
The liveaboard offers generous accommodation for up to 6 passengers with unusual privacy. Three non-contiguous cabins have double beds that can convert to a twin share. For singles, the 2 mattresses are separated by a privacy divider. Each stateroom has 14m2, including large ensuite baths, big windows, ample storage space, and individually controlled A/C. Natural ventilation is used as much as possible, weather permitting.
Basilisk has a bright, spacious 35 m2 (375 s.f.) salon with an indoor dining area. Most meals are however served on the shaded Aft Deck. Breakfast is buffet style with lunch and dinner served individually. The menu combines Western and Creole cuisine with a touch of Indian and Asian influences.
After a full day of adventures, guests will be delighted to relax on the 95 m2 (1050 s.f.) Aft Deck or the Fly Deck, both with shaded and sunny areas. Enjoy cocktails on the Fly Deck with marvelous views of the sunset.
Diving and research and land visiting
This liveaboard serves not only recreational purposes but is also often used for marine research. Her range of 5’000+ n.m. permits longer expeditions throughout the Western Indian Ocean. To learn more about a unique blend of Seychelles culture with African, European, and Indian influences land visits can be planned.
Dive deck
Two tenders are available, a US Coast Guard SAFEBoat reserved for divers and a Highfield RIB for snorkeling and land excursions
Safety and navigation
The liveaboard is supplied with all necessary safety and navigation equipment including radar, 4 GPS, 3 fixed/4 hand VHF, EPIRB, AIS sounders & sonars, and life rafts with 8 and 12 places.
Itineraries
Itineraries are somewhat flexible and can be adjusted to your group. Longer trips for up to 14 days onboard are possible as well as short cruises. Due to its solid construction, the liveaboard can sail to far destinations which otherwise require very expensive charter flights. The list of standard diving routes includes the Inner Islands, North Amirantes, and South Amirantes. Outer Islands, Aldabra, and expeditions outside Seychelles may be booked on request.
The list of diving routes includes Inner Islands exploration, North Amirantes, South Amirantes, and Aldabra expeditions on request. The Inner Islands are a great destination for newly certified divers with their protected sites and average depths of 20m. For non-divers, a snorkel with green turtles, a hike through conservation reserves, or a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site Vallée de Mai with its famous Coco de Mer are some of the highlights.
Amirantes offers excellent diving: cays, walls, channels, submerged atolls, caverns, grottos & seamounts. Spot grey and silvertip sharks, imperious eagle and sting rays, resident mantas, migrating whales, turtles, and sailfish. These islands also provide a wealth of opportunities for land-based Nature experiences of fabulous bird populations, giant tortoises, and shady coconut plantations, vestiges of their agricultural past, all waiting to be explored.
When to Go
March to May and mid-October to mid-December are the best times for diving. Visibility is up to 30m in those seasons, winds are milder and there is generally less rain. From June to August when the southeast monsoon winds blow hard, the boat travels within the Inner Islands. Water and air temperatures drop to 25°C (77°F), the cooler water bringing more plankton and lower visibility but also whale sharks. This is the time to go swimming and snorkeling with the largest fish in the seas.
