Cave
Thundercliff Cave is a dive site located at Christmas Island that features two caves. There is a large open chamber that serves as an entrance to the second cave. That one is full of stalagmites and stalactites and famous for a hanging shroud formation. It is also possible to explore this cave by land after taking off diving gear.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at Thundercliff Cave throughout the year, but the monsoon season is from December to April. The average water temperature is 24-28C/75-82F. Diving during the high tide allows divers to explore the tunnel leading to a cathedral cave.
What to see
Thundercliff Cave has a colorful reef with diverse species at the bottom, such as butterflyfish, velvet surgeonfish, and angelfish. The larger species at this dive site are grouper, snapper, and barracudas.
