All about Tijou Reefs dive site
Tijou Reef lies at the southern end of the Far Northern Reefs and is often used at the start or end of remote expeditions. Its sheltered western side has bommies and coral gardens, while the northern tip offers more dramatic shark and pelagic action.
What to see
Coral bommies, snapper, trevally, reef sharks, turtles, barracuda, mackerel, tuna, grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and silvertip sharks may be seen. Shark City is the more energetic wall area.
When To Go Diving
Far Northern Reef trips are generally best in the dry season, with water often around 26–29°C during the main liveaboard season. Visibility is usually strongest in settled weather, especially outside heavy rain periods.
