All about Manta Ray Bay dive site
Manta Ray Bay, in the Whitsundays, is a scenic Hook Island site with ledges, swim-throughs, and dramatic reef shapes. It has a more theatrical feel than a simple coral slope, especially when the light cuts through the rock formations.
What to see
Eagle rays and manta rays may appear when conditions align, especially in cooler months. Divers can also see reef fish, turtles, batfish, coral trout, and small coral-dwelling species.
When To Go Diving
Winter and spring are often favoured for ray encounters and clearer conditions, while water remains comfortable year-round. Expect roughly 24–29°C water, with best diving on calm days and suitable tides.
