Frequently Asked Questions About Snefro Pearl

What dive itineraries and sites does the Snefro Pearl visit?

The Snefro Pearl liveaboard Egypt operates the Mini Safari Thistlegorm – Ras Mohamed route, offering divers alike the chance to explore some of the Red Sea’s most iconic dive sites. Over four days, up to eleven dives are scheduled, including two at the legendary World War II Thistlegorm wreck. The itinerary features Ras Mohamed National Park, where Shark and Yolanda Reef showcase steep walls covered in soft corals, shoals of snappers, barracuda, and reef sharks. Ras Ghozlani offers gentle slopes with scattered coral pinnacles, often home to turtles. Drift dives in strong currents and historical wreck dives create a varied program that adapts to weather conditions, ensuring both safety and an amazing trip for all

How are transfers, check-in, and check-out handled for the liveaboard?

Transfers within Sharm el Sheikh are included for both airport and hotel pick-up, with drop-off arranged at the New Marina (Port Jerry). Embarkation begins at 18:00 and continues throughout the evening, while disembarkation on mini safaris is set for 16:00. Guests arriving early are encouraged to book hotel accommodation, as private transfers are not part of the package and public pick-up points are not supported. The boat crew assists guests during embarkation, ensuring a smooth start to the journey

Is there Wi-Fi or internet access on board the Snefro Pearl?

Wi-Fi is available free of charge on the Snefro Pearl liveaboard. This shared connection relies on mobile network reception, usually strongest when moored or close to port. Uploading or downloading large files is not recommended due to limited speeds. Guests seeking uninterrupted personal access often purchase local data SIM cards upon arrival at Egyptian airports

Are there any extra costs or fees I should be aware of (park fees, visas, tips, etc.)?

The liveaboard package includes accommodation, meals, snacks, soft drinks, water, tea, and coffee. Additional charges apply for scuba diving extras such as equipment rental, sidemount diving sets, 15L tanks, and alcoholic beverages. National park and environmental fees vary depending on the chosen itinerary. Government taxes or fuel surcharges may also affect costs. Tips for the crew and diving instructor are customary but remain at the discretion of each guest

Is the Snefro Pearl a good choice for less experienced divers or younger divers?

The Snefro Pearl welcomes divers who hold Open Water certification and have logged at least 15 dives. Diving the Thistlegorm requires Advanced Open Water certification and a minimum of 20 dives due to depth and currents. Guests who have not dived in the past year are expected to complete a scuba review before joining dives. Some drift sites, such as Shark and Yolanda Reef, feature stronger currents and are better suited for divers with prior drift diving experience. This makes the boat suitable for both confident beginners and experienced divers alike, depending on the itinerary

What kind of marine life can I expect to see on this liveaboard?

The Ras Mohamed region and surrounding areas are renowned for their marine diversity. Schools of snappers, barracudas, fusiliers, and batfish move in large numbers along the reefs. Turtles are often spotted resting among the coral gardens of Ras Ghozlani and Marsa Bareika. Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef provide opportunities to encounter napoleon wrasse, blue-spotted stingrays, and reef sharks, with occasional sightings of hammerhead or silky sharks in deeper water. The Thistlegorm wreck is rich in both history and marine encounters, often surrounded by glassfish, giant moray eels, scorpionfish, and other reef inhabitants

Amazing short duration experience
Every moment I spent that related to diving is 10/10. Value for money makes it 8/10 regarding the facilities. Short duration was what make me choose Snefro Pearl in the beginning, but after all I would definitely recommend it

Day 1:
Evening: transfer to New Marina (El Wataneya) Port and embark. Welcome on board, cabin arrangement and boat-briefing. Permission work with port authority, sailing very early next morning.

Day 2:
Morning: check dive at Temple or Ras Katy. Next dive is Jackfish Alley where you can easily enter the small caves there. The third dive will be the Alternatives, a chain of seven pinnacles with numerous sand patches and resident leopard sharks. Night Diving is very popular here.

Day 3:
Morning: the boat will sail to the wreck of the Thistlegorm, the most famous of the Red Sea wrecks, maybe even worldwide. There is so much to explore so the plan is a minimum of two dives. The first one is an orientation of the outside and the second dive a penetrating one. For the third dive, your boat will sail to Small Passage where two channels cut the reef system of Sha'ab Mahmoud and connect the sheltered lagoon to the open sea. A night dive inside the lagoon is optional.

Day 4:
Morning: the first dive of the day will take you to the historical wreck of the Dunraven, which sank in April 1876 - an old wooden wreck with plenty of room for passing through thousands of glassfish that live here in the shade of the wreck. Next dive is Shark and Yolanda Reef, the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula with an endless wall unique in the Red Sea. Sailing back towards Sharm for your third dive at Ras Zatar, Ras Ghozlani or maybe Ras Um Sid. Return to New Marina (El Wataneya) Port and disembark.

Routes can be affected by adverse weather conditions and unforeseen events, force majeure or other similar reasons. (Please note that night dives are not allowed in Marine Parks)
