The boat’s owner spent several years in Indonesia before they purchased Duyungbaru liveaboard. After 3 years of sailing the archipelago, they chose Komodo as the place that inspired them the most. Diving itineraries include all the most engaging dive sites of Komodo National Park. This diving destination is truly unique. Only a few places in the world, where so many underwater creatures can be met. White tip and gray reef sharks, snappers, surgeonfish, giant trevally, and fusiliers are common in this area. Komodo is great for macro diving. The island’s coral reefs are home to tiny pygmy seahorses and colorful nudibranchs. Also, the Komodo’s underwater landscapes feature a great variety. You can dive along the walls and pinnacles and explore colorful reefs.

When to Go

Komodo Island is a year-round destination. The best time to visit its dive sites is from April and August when the dry season begins. From November to March water can be cooler, but visibility is better. Diving Komodo on the Duyung Baru Liveaboard
The Duyung Baru liveaboard takes just six divers in three cabins. With the co-owner and dive guide Vovo Korth taking a dim view of crowded dive sites, often the seven of you will be the only people in the water. Vovo's wife Yani is the captain and cook. Her food is delicious, created with care and love. She gets up at three in the morning to make fresh bread for breakfast - from loaves to croissants. Not only a great cook, she is most friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
