Saxon Reef is located close to Cairns in Australia and is a pristine dive site. It has a spectacular reef, swim-throughs, gullies, coral coves, and large bommies. The top of this reef is exposed and looks very pretty when the tide is very low.
When To Go Diving
The warm temperatures of Saxon Reef allow diving throughout the year. The most favorable sea conditions are in June and from September to November, while the rainy season is from November to March. The average water temperature is usually 25-28C/77-82F.
What to see
Saxon Reef has many species of the Great Barrier Reef, including sea turtles, reef sharks, giant clams, migrating humpback whales and young cuttlefish families.
