Ribbon Reef is located off northern Queensland and is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in Australia. This healthy reef is ideal for underwater photography and spotting large species. The crevices, bommies, and swim-throughs are full of life and colors

When To Go Diving

It is possible to dive at Ribbon Reef throughout the year, with a water temperature of 22°C/72°F in winter and 29°C/84°F in summer. The best visibility occurs from September to November, while there is lots of rain from December to February. There is a high chance to spot minke whales in June and July

What to see

There is an abundance of creatures and bright tropical fish like angelfish, parrotfish, and squirrelfish at Ribbon Reef. The large inhabitants are giant potato cod, reef sharks, wobbegongs, and barracudas. Ribbon Reef is one of the best Great Barrier Reef liveaboard dive sites
