Sandy bottom
Pixie Pinnacle is one of the signature dive sites in the Great Barrier Ribbon Reef, which features a 15m/49ft-wide coral column full of diverse marine life. The dive starts at the sandy base of the pinnacle, and then divers go up along the formation in an upward spiral. Divers should keep an eye on this unique chimney, overhangs, and abundant corals to see 7 different types of anemones.

When To Go Diving

Diving is available at Pixie Pinnacle year-round because of the warm water temperatures, which average 22C/72F in winter and 29C/84F in summer. The humpback whale season is from June to November, and the coral spawning happens in October and November.

What to see

The base of Pixie Pinnacle hides whitetip sharks, stingrays, batfish and pipefish. It is easy to spot stonefish, lionfish, fairy basslets, fusiliers, and clownfish around the pinnacle.
