Julian Rocks-Cod Hole is located at the end of Byron Bay in New South Wales in Australia. It is a swim-through dive site that has its entrance at 5m/16ft and slopes downward to 21m/69ft deep. There are sand trenches behind Cod Hole that are full of marine life.
When To Go Diving
The best time to dive at Julian Rocks-Cod Hole is September to January, when there is less rain and warmer temperatures. The average sea temperature is usually around 26C/79F. The humpback whale migrating season here is from May to September.
What to see
Julian Rocks-Cod Hole is inhabited by many large species like gray nurse sharks, manta rays, eagle rays, bull rays, giant grouper, and wobbegongs. The smaller sea creatures here are crayfish, shrimp, lionfish, cuttlefish, and sweetlips.
