HMAS Adelaide Wreck
The HMAS Adelaide Wreck, a former long-range missile frigate, was taken out of service in 2011 and was sunk in front of the coast in Sydney. The ship was deployed in the Gulf War in 1990 and in East Timor in 1999. The wreck has a total length of 138m/452ft and can be penetrated from different sides.
When To Go Diving
Divers can dive at the HMAS Adelaide Wreck year-round. The water temperatures average 24C/75F during summer and 15C/59F during winter. The sea clarity around the vessel is at its best during the summer months from December to February.
What to see
The HMAS Adelaide Wreck has attracted a wide range of sea creatures. Angelfish, boxfish, frogfish, barracudas, lionfish, and goatfish are frequently spotted here. This site is also home to sea snakes and whitetip sharks.
