Curtin Artificial Reef
Curtain Artificial Reef is a series of wrecks clustered together located inside Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Australia. Lots of ships, vessels, cars, tires, and pontoons have sunk at this site since 1968. Buried wrecks that can be easily entered and explored make scuba diving here adventurous and fascinatingly interesting. The largest shipwreck is the Bremer (50m/164ft). Divers should take their compasses with them so they don’t get lost in the mess of sunken and constantly shifting debris. Curtain Artificial Reef is suitable for advanced-level divers.
When To Go Diving
Moreton Island has a subtropical climate that is comfortable all year for divers and tourists. The hottest months are from November to March, with an average temperature of 28C/82F. The average temperature in winter (May to July) is 20C/68F. May to October is the driest period, and it rarely rains.
What to see
The visibility is rather poor, so divers should concentrate and focus so they can spot the marine species between the sunken wrecks. If they pay close attention, divers may notice batfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, trevallies, grouper, and wrasses.
