Around the Bend is located close to Osprey Reef in Australia, and has 2 possible routes for diving: an easy dive at the lagoon area, and a long, deep drift dive. The coral rubble divides the reef in two sections, and a bommie serves as a natural cleaning station. A sandy channel leads to a shallow lagoon that has its entrance marked by an enormous boulder.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at Around the Bend year-round, with the best water visibility from September to November. The average sea temperature ranges between 22-29C/72-84F. Divers have chances to spot humpback whales from June to November, while coral spawning happens in October and November.
What to see
Around the Bend attracts such marvelous species as manta rays, whitetip reef sharks, a few types of butterflyfish, swarms of damselfish, and surgeonfish. The bommie is covered in Christmas tree worms and nudibranchs.
