Hippolyte Rocks is a dive site located east of Fortescue Bay in Tasmania, close to the rocky island. It features sheer walls, large boulders, and interesting formations covered by colorful sponges, soft corals, and magical zoantharias.
When To Go Diving
The warmest time to dive at Hippolyte Rocks is from December to February, when the sea water is 20-24C/68-75F. Late November to early December is the time to spot playful seal pups
What to see
The main attraction of Hippolyte Rocks is a protected colony of Australia’s brown fur seals, which are curious enough to spend some time with divers. Other species around this dive site are reef sharks, barracudas, grouper, trumpeters, and numerous invertebrates in all shapes and colors.
