Osprey Reef is the northernmost reef in the Coral Sea in Australia and is in pristine condition due to its remoteness. This dive site features a lagoon area and a deeper reef, which creates waters ideal for large pelagics. Pinnacles, swim-throughs, and overhangs are followed by huge gorgonian fans and corals of all types

When To Go Diving

Diving is possible at Osprey Reef throughout the year due to the warm water temperature at all times. It averages 22°C/72°F during winter and 29°C/84°F in summer. Coral spawning occurs in October/November, and the humpback whales migrate from June to November

What to see

Osprey Reef is popular among shark lovers, since silvertips, whitetip reef sharks, and gray reef sharks can be spotted here. Other large species include dogtooth tuna, small spotted dart, mackerel, and rainbow runners
