North Bommie is a dive site close to Heron Island in Australia that is named after the large bommie there. It is a major cleaning station in the area that attracts numerous species. There are a couple of interesting overhangs there as well.
When To Go Diving
The best time for diving at North Bommie is from April to June, but the turtle breeding season lasts from December to April. The average water temperature is 21C/70F during the winter and 26C/79F during the summer.
What to see
North Bommie is full of glassfish and cardinalfish that are often chased by different types of cod and coral trout. The larger inhabitants of this dive site are sea turtles and manta rays. There is also a well-known pair of leafy scorpionfish there.
