Troy D Wreck is a dive site on the southeast side of Tasmania, located inside the Maria Island National Park. It is an interesting artificial reef created by sinking an old 55m/180ft-long container ship in 2007.
When To Go Diving
The most favorable conditions for diving at the Troy D Wreck are from December to February. These months have the warmest water temperatures, 20-24C/68-75F. June to August is the coldest period, and it is only possible to dive with a wetsuit during this time.
What to see
Some lucky divers may see a seal colony close to the Troy D wreck. Species often seen here include reef sharks, moray eels, grouper, barracudas, and snapper. The ship is covered in hard corals that serve as home to small tropical fish.
