Anchor Bommie
Anchor Bommie is an unusual site in the deep waters near Lady Elliot Island. Scuba divers can view marine inhabitants and the soft and hard corals that dwell on and around two old Admiralty anchors that were lost by guano miners and have been lying in the sand for years.
When To Go Diving
The average air temperature is 25-30C/77-86F, and the average water temperature is 20-29C/68-77F.
What to see
While scuba diving here divers can find scorpionfish, manta rays, shrimp, turtles, garden eels, and loggerhead turtles. Closer to the sand around the bommie, divers can also see plenty of reef sharks swimming around the anchor.
