Balls Pyramid is one of the most popular dive sites within the sanctuary off Lord Howe Island in Australia that features great cave dives, drift dives, and an impressive coral wall. This spot is special due to its castle-shaped sea stack, which is a very tall rock monolith.

When To Go Diving

Diving at Balls Pyramid is possible year-round, with an average water temperature of 16-18C/61-64F in winter and 24-27C/75-81F in summer. The best visibility is from September to November.

What to see

The variety of marine life at Balls Pyramid includes amberjacks, silver drummers, Ballina angelfish, violet sweeps, trevallies, and rainbow runners. Some larger species that can be seen here are dolphins, marlin, and wahoos.
