All about Tortuga Island dive site
Tortuga Island
Tortuga Island is one of Costa Rica’s best-known Gulf of Nicoya dive areas, especially for wrecks and beginner-friendly boat diving. Its sheltered position gives it a gentler feel than the offshore shark sites, while still offering rocky reef and artificial structure.

What to see
Reef fish, rays, moray eels, pufferfish, turtles, jacks, snappers, and wreck life may be seen. The area is also known for several sunken vessels.
When To Go Diving
December to April or May is usually best, with calmer seas and visibility often around 9–15 metres, sometimes better. Water is generally warm, around 26–29°C, but can vary with currents.
