All about Este Norte dive site

Este Norte is best treated as a Costa Rican Pacific reef site, likely shaped by volcanic rock, sand channels, and seasonal current. It has the rugged character typical of the country’s Pacific coast, where fish movement and topography often matter more than coral density.

What to see

Divers may see reef fish, grunts, snappers, pufferfish, moray eels, rays, turtles, jacks, and small crustaceans. Larger fish may pass through when current brings nutrients over the reef.

When To Go Diving

December to May is usually best for calmer seas and clearer coastal visibility. Water is commonly around 26–29°C at coastal sites, though cooler thermoclines can appear, especially around deeper pinnacles.
