Heron Bommie is located off the western point of Heron Island in Australia. It is an excellent dive with picturesque underwater views and diverse marine life. This dive site has six huge coral heads that slope down the reef and are used as a cleaning station for many species.
When To Go Diving
North Bommie has warm water with an average temperature of 26C/79F from April to June. At other times the average water temperature is around 21C/70F. The turtles come here to breed from December to April.
What to see
Divers don’t need to move around much to enjoy the variety of Heron Bommie. The forests of branching corals are full of bright damselfish, angelfish, cowfish, eels, batfish, and moray eels. The larger fauna includes sea turtles, eagle rays, manta rays, barracudas, and occasional reef sharks.
