St Paul Wreck

St. Paul is a dive site located near Moreton Island. St. Paul was a French ship that crashed into Smiths Rock. The remains of the freighter are located 1km/0.6mi from Smiths Rock. The ocean claimed the lives of 18 people, and 11 others were luckily rescued. After some time, the St. Paul wreck became a popular dive site, because diving in and exploring sunken structures is really challenging and adventurous. Most of the freighter lies in ruins now.
When To Go Diving
Moreton Island’s climate is subtropical. The summer season lasts from November to January, with an average temperature of 28C/82F. The winter (May to July) is a better time to dive, because there is less wind and weaker currents. The average temperature in winter is 20C/68F.
What to see
Curious divers will see beams, handrails, winches, and 2 enormous boilers. The morning is considered to be the best time to explore the wrecks. However, scuba diving in the afternoon gives divers a better chance to observe marine species. Divers can see snapper, yellowtail kingfish, huge cod, estuary cod, and bull rays.
