Scuba diving in Blow Hole


Blowhole is one of the most famous dive sites, located on the eastern side of Lady Elliot Island. This L-shaped cave has two entrances, and one of them is located on the reef wall. Divers can explore the 20m/66ft-long cavern.
When to go
The weather here is warm from mid-November to the end of March. February is the rainiest month on the island. The driest months are August, September, and October, so scuba divers can expect good visibility. The average air temperature is 25-30C/77-86F, and the average water temperature is 20-29C/68-77F.
What to see
This site provides the opportunity to see rare silvertip sharks and gnomefish, as well as cave inhabitants like sharks, pipefish, clownfish, anemones, turtles, lionfish, and shrimp.
