All about Mackeral Bay dive site

Mackeral Bay is a Whitsunday reef site with gentle slopes, patchy bommies, and sand channels. It suits a relaxed dive profile, where the eye moves between coral heads, open sand, and passing fish life.

What to see

Stingrays, garden eels, reef fish, small coral colonies, and occasional turtles may be seen. Bommies can hold damselfish, wrasse, butterflyfish, and nudibranchs.

When To Go Diving

Best conditions are usually during calm weather and lighter tide windows. Water temperatures follow the tropical Queensland pattern, from about 24°C in winter to 29°C in summer.
