The Airport Caves dive site is located on the eastern side of Útila, Honduras, and it used to be the part of Útila Airport’s old airstrip . Scuba diving in Airport Caves is interesting and adventurous. The site is suitable for both beginners and skilled divers. There are lots of caves, caverns, shallows, reefs, sandy slopes, and swim-throughs are to be explored underwater.

When to go

The temperature is about the same throughout the year, around 27-30C/80-86F. March through September is the driest time, and October through February has the most rainfall. The average water temperature is 28-31C/82-87F.

What to see

The Airport Caves shelter various fish that divers can observe at this site. The marine life includes species like barracudas, black durgeons, angelfish, garden eels, stingrays, pipefish, and reef butterflyfish.
