
Similan Explorer Liveaboard, Thailand
Similan Explorer is a wooden boat, that runs trips to Thailand and it’s famous Similan Islands.
Boat Interior
Similan Explorer has 8 cabins, located on two decks. There are 6 staterooms is on the main deck. 4 of them has twin beds and 2 rooms made for quad occupancy. All rooms can be shared. Double bed cabins located on the upper deck. For your comfort Similan Explorer’s staterooms have air conditioning, upper deck rooms has individual facilities.
Similan Explorer has a big and spacious dining area with an open-air part, where you can enjoy the view and try some delicious food. It also equipped with TV and DVD. There you can spend time in between dives or after diving day, watching movies or chatting with each other. There is also a shaded sun deck with sun loungers.
Dive deck
Dive deck of Similan Explorer is big, it has comfortable benches to prepare for the dive. Boat is equipped with Bauer Mariner II compressors with P41 air filters to give you the best quality air. Divers can rent some equipment items on board, including 15 ltr tanks.
Safety
Similan Explorer team care about safety. Boat has all necessary safety equipment: life jackets, emergency rafts, first aid kit, fire fighting equipment.
Itineraries
Similan Explorer main itinerary includes diving on the Similans and Richelieu Rock. This destination is known for a big variety of corals. There are a lot of hard corals. Here you can dive between table corals and bommies. There are plenty of soft corals as well. These formations attract lots of different fish, such as groupers, barracudas. Sometimes divers meet frogfish and ribbon eels. Elephant Rock can be considered as one of the most recognized Similan’ dive spots. It’s granite boulders created a big amount of caverns and tunnels. Anita's Reef also included in the trip. Numerous of marine creatures can be spotted while diving at Anita’s Reef, like turtles, lionfish, blue-spotted stingrays.
Diving with whale sharks is common for Richelieu Rock. Thailand dive sites can offer such an opportunity but chances to meet these gorgeous creatures while diving on Richelieu Rock is higher.
When to Go
The best condition for diving at Similan is from November until May. in February, plankton that was brought from the bottom by strong currents attract numerous of pelagics to this area.
