About North Malé Atoll

North Male, also known as North Kaafu, is perhaps the best known and explored diving area of the Maldives. It is a very popular among divers of all levels of experience. North Male Atoll diving is characterised by some of the best reefs in the Maldives, caves, current-swept channels and drop offs. The marine life in the waters off The North Male Atoll is diverse and includes reef sharks and mantas, many crevices, tuna, jacks, rays, turtles and a variety of different colorful fish. The most popular and well-known dive sites of The Maldives are located around The North Male Atoll. Maldives Victory wreck dive is the most popular dive spot of the world. The Maldives Victory, an 110m/360ft long vessel, which sank in 1981 near Hulhule Island and now offers fascinating wreck diving experience for advanced divers. Old Shark Point, located to the southeast edge of Thila Fushi Channel, is one of the most frequently visited dive spots in Maldives and is popular for sighting sharks. Lion's Head, Banana Reef, The Aquarium, Kuda Haa and Meeru Kandu are some of the most visited dive sites in North Male Atoll. Rasfari Corner, The Seagull Wreck, Manta Point, and Helengeli Thila are located to the northern side of North Male Atoll.

When to go to North Malé Atoll

North Male Atoll is a year round destination. Scuba diving in is possible throughout the year, though surface conditions are generally best during the Northeast Monsoon season from late December to May. Water temperatures at North Male Atoll around 26 to 29°C/78 to 84F. Visibility is around 15-30m/49-98ft all year round.
