Kelso Reef offers central Great Barrier Reef diving with a mix of coral slopes, bommies, and reef flats. Its character is open and tropical, with the best dives often shaped by current and light.
What to see
Expect coral gardens, reef fish, turtles, reef sharks, rays, parrotfish, butterflyfish, and schooling fusiliers. Sandy patches can reveal garden eels or resting rays.
When To Go Diving
The most reliable all-round period is generally June to November. Water temperatures are around 24°C in winter, 27°C in spring, and close to 29°C in summer.
