Fitzroy Reef Lagoon lies within the Southern Great Barrier Reef and is known for sheltered lagoon-style reef scenery. The mood is open, bright, and blue, with coral gardens and sandy patches creating easy navigation.
What to see
Coral bommies, reef flats, lagoon fish, turtles, rays, and schooling fusiliers may be seen. The site is also suitable for spotting smaller reef creatures around coral heads and rubble edges.
When To Go Diving
May to November generally brings better visibility, while December to April offers warmer water. Expect roughly 24–29°C water across the year, with calmer lagoon conditions dependent on wind and tide.
