Elegante - a gorgeous schooner, built in 1995 and renovated in 2010. She is rather small, only 14 divers can be accommodated, so you can count on personal care. Elegante is not a typical boat for the Red Sea, you can enjoy traveling under sails on her board. The main attraction of Elegant that you can explore two different diving destinations - Sudan and Djibouti, both famous for shark dives. Dive with hammerheads and tiger sharks in Sudan or choose snorkeling with whale sharks in Djibouti.
Boat interior and exterior
There are 7 cabins on board of Elegante. 4 cabins have a double and a twin bed upper, and 3 cabins are with double beds. All staterooms have private showers and air conditioning.
In between and after diving boat’s guests can stay at the indoor lounge area, which has entertainment facilities and big comfortable sofas. There is also an option to enjoy an amazing view from the upper deck. It has a shaded part and cushioned sits.
Diving
Elegante equipped with 2 rubber dinghy with 55 Hp outboard engine that will take divers to the greatest dive sites. There are Bauer compressors on board and both INT and DIN tanks.
Safety and navigation
Boat supplied with all necessary safety equipment emergency rafts, life vests, firefighting equipment, first aid kits, and emergency flares. Also, the boat has needed navigation items like radar, depth sounder, satellite telephone, etc.
Diving features (itineraries)
Elegant liveaboard offers trips to Sudan and Djibouti diving destinations. The main attraction for Djibouti is whale sharks. The itinerary includes snorkeling and diving at The “Dome” and Ile de requines where these gorgeous creatures can be met. As for Sudan, Elegante can offer three types of routes for this destination. Divers can explore either the South or North part of Sudan. Or choose a combined trip. Dive at famous Pre Continental station built by Jacques Yves Cousteau and explore well-known wreck Umbria also known as Wingate.
When to go
Diving in Djibouti is great from October to February. Lots of whale sharks can be spotted here. Time form June to September is the hottest time for Sudan. Lots of mantas can be seen here from September until November. Hammerhead season begins in August and lasts till October

1. I arrived in the afternoon and they arranged a car to reach the boat with extra charge. I missed first day's check dive and night dive. Consider this to choose your airline.
2. Whale sharks are natural wonders. The boat people picked up correct timing and place to observe whale sharks, and all the guests could enjoy swimming with this gentle creatures.
3. Morning snack with briefing - diving - normal breakfast - diving or snorkeling - lunch - move to other site or diving or snorkeling - afternoon snack - night dive - dinner, was usual flow of the day.
4. On the last two days, it rained. My cabin had leakage, thus I couldn't sleep well as the half of my body became wet. Boat was not a huge one, so it is difficult to find dry place to sleep on.
5. The land excursion with extra charge: Lac Assal (salt lake) and volcano area.
good choice to spend one half day.
6. I stayed at a hotel for one night after finishing this trip. They arranged transfer to the airport on next day with extra charge.
