Liveaboard cruises offering dives at the Le Dome

All about Le Dome dive site

Le Dome, also written The Dome or Le Dôme, is part of Djibouti’s volcanic Gulf of Tadjoura diving landscape, where lava formations, coral growth, and open-water scenery meet. The site has a rounded, sculptural character, with reef slopes and fish movement shaped by the region’s nutrient-rich water.

What to see

Expect coral gardens, volcanic rock formations, reef fish, snappers, groupers, jacks, rays, turtles, and occasional reef sharks. Whale sharks and manta rays may be seen in season in the wider Gulf of Tadjoura area, especially when plankton blooms are present.

When To Go Diving

October to February is often the key season for Djibouti liveaboards and whale shark encounters, while the broader diving season can extend beyond this depending on itinerary and sea conditions. Water is warm, usually around 27–29°C, and visibility can shift from plankton-rich green-blue water to clear offshore conditions.
