Colorado is a site in the South of Mauritius which lies 500-600m behind the barrier reef. Immersion occurs in the canyon, which is 400m long. The dive continues further down a tunnel that bends before exiting through a crevice. Then, passing under an arch through a narrow gorge divers can return back to the canyon swimming through the forest of sea fans. The average depth of the site is 33m/108ft with the deepest point being no more than 40m/131ft. This site is marked for experienced divers only.
When To Go Diving
Diving is possible pretty much all through the year, but the best time to go is in the summer, from November through May. During these months the average water temperature stays around 27C/80F.
What to see
Turtles, tuna, grouper, parrot fish, hammers lobsters and black tip reef sharks occupy the canyon.
