All about Roy Rufus dive site

Roy Rufus Artificial Reef lies off Big Woody Island near Hervey Bay and was started in 1968, with a wide area of structure in depths to around 18 metres. It has a distinctly local Queensland character, combining wreck-style exploration with artificial reef life.

What to see

Snapper, batfish, turtles, reef fish, and wreck-associated species are typical highlights. Several small wrecks and artificial structures create shelter for schooling fish and macro life.

When To Go Diving

Diving is possible year-round, but calmer winter and spring days often bring more comfortable conditions. Water is usually warmest from December to March and cooler from June to August.
