All about Ponta Preta dive site

Ponta Preta is a Sal Island site named after one of the island’s exposed coastal points, giving it a more Atlantic-facing character. When conditions are calm, it can offer volcanic reef scenery, open blue water, and a stronger sense of movement.

What to see

Divers may see jacks, barracuda, parrotfish, wrasse, moray eels, scorpionfish, pufferfish, turtles, and rays. Current may bring more schooling fish along the point.

When To Go Diving

April to November is usually the best period, though exposure to wind and swell can affect access. Water often sits around 22–27°C, with visibility commonly 15–30 metres.
