All about Cavala dive site

Cavala is one of the named Sal Island sites and likely carries a stronger fish-life focus, as the name refers to mackerel or horse mackerel in Portuguese usage. It can be treated as a reef site where open-water movement may be part of the appeal.

What to see

Schooling fish, jacks, barracuda, wrasse, parrotfish, moray eels, scorpionfish, pufferfish, and nudibranchs may be seen. Pelagic visitors are possible but never guaranteed.

When To Go Diving

Best months are generally April to November, with warmer water and better visibility. Expect around 22–27°C water, while visibility often sits between 15 and 30 metres.
