Scuba diving in Panettone
Panettone is a dive site around Ari Atoll that features a big cave, overhangs, and a healthy reef. Due to the strong currents of sometimes more than 2 knots, this spot is famous for its drift diving opportunities.
When to go
The northeast monsoon brings the dry season to Panettone from January to May, accompanied by numerous sea turtles. The rainy season is usually from June to November, but diving is possible during that time as well. The air averages 28-30C/82-86F, while the water temperature ranges between 26-29C/79-84F.
What to see
Panettone has beautiful soft corals and purple fans that are full of small tropical fish. The larger species include barracudas, huge trevallies, gray reef sharks, and whitetip sharks. Sometimes it is even possible to see enormous manta rays.
